The message reads, in part:
“Interaction between national labour associations constitutes a significant
component of BRICS partnership. For many years now, your forum has enjoyed high
international standing and played a substantial role in the global trade union
movement. With a group of dynamically developing economies recently joining BRICS,
your activities have taken on a whole new dimension.
The objectives of the forum are in many respects aligned with the agenda
of the Russian BRICS Chairmanship. Clearly, the ambitious socioeconomic and humanitarian development goals that all BRICS countries are facing can only be
achieved to the fullest extent through systematically addressing the issues of employment, protection of rights and interests, fulfilling creative potential
and improving professional skills.
During the forum, you will share your experiences and organisational as well as regulatory and legal expertise, discuss the challenges facing the trade
union movement in today’s world, and outline ways to improve the international
labour market situation.
I am confident that you will have meaningful and constructive discussions, and that your proposals and initiatives will be
implemented and will contribute to strengthening the BRICS countries’ position
in the global economy.”
